Virtual Sports Day - Friday 19th June 2020

Normally at this time of the year we would be having our Sports Day, which is always one of the most fun days in the school year for all of us!!!
Unfortunately this year with our school closed we can't do our Sports Day.
Instead, we would love if you took part in our Virtual Sports Day!

Taking part is easy!!:

  • We have picked different activities and challenges that you should be able to do with very little equipment that can all be found around your house!
  • You can record yourself doing as many of the activities as you like and send a video of your best attempt to us on Seesaw!
  • You will receive a 'Virtual Sports Day' Booklet on the day you are collecting your copies, books, artwork etc.. with the details of the activities and explanations.
  • If you click on each of the pictures below, you can see what is in the booklet - Rules, explanations and activity list.
Keep reading to find out more information below!

What to do:

Before the 19th of June:

1) Familiarise yourself with the Virtual Sports Day Booklet and activities.
2) Watch the explanation videos included in the pdf linked below.
3) Ensure that you have all the equipment needed (See list of equipment below).
4) If you are unsure of anything, you can ask us a question on Seesaw before the day of the Sports Day.
5) Have a look at the Shopping List below to give you some ideas of what you can get to make it feel like a real Sports Day!!
6) Make a playlist of songs that get you moving!! Or click here to use this ready - made playlist!

On the day of the Sports Day:

1) Ensure you have someone to time you and film you doing the activities.
2) Make sure you have all the equipment you'll need, speakers, suncream, drinks etc...
3) Upload the videos of your best attempts of the activities to Seesaw. (Include a note telling us your best time/amount of reps you completed!)
4) We encourage everyone to take part in a safe place, away from traffic and other dangers. If you are doing these activities in a public place, such as Kilbogget, make sure you follow social distancing guidelines and aren't gathering in big groups to do these activities!
5) Most importantly - Stay Safe and Have Fun!!!

Click on any of the links in the image below to view a video to explain to you how to do each activity.

Work for the Week of 18th May to 22nd May 2020

Hey everyone!!

Hope you all had a lovely weekend! Well done to everyone on their great work! I entered 10 children from my class into the draw for the new school tracksuit on Friday, which is more than half the class, so well done to everyone who was entered!! Hopefully someone wins from our class soon!!!

On Monday (today), I am allowed go into the school. I will be putting together work packs for everyone for three weeks (but I will send home enough colouring, word searches and other nice activities to occupy you for the rest of the school year!), which will hopefully make working from home a bit easier for the last few weeks! These should be available from Wednesday, so children can do some of the activities from that pack from Thursday onwards!

In these packs, I'll be suggesting some work for the core subjects, similar to what I've been suggesting up until now (i.e Mental Maths, Maths Worksheet, Litrigh é Linn, Treasury D English, Tables) but my packs mainly consist of Colouring Activities, Well - Being Activities, Word Searches, Book Reviews/Records, a Memory Book and a Home School Time Capsule. I wanted to give you lots of options and variety as I imagine you are getting fed up doing school work at home.
Any work that you do from the packs, I'd still love to see photos on Seesaw!

Here is my suggested work for this week! Again, there is no pressure to do any of it, I hope everyone is continuing to do what suits them and no one is feeling anxious about completing work!

So many children have been working so hard, sending in work nearly every day!! If you're finding you are feeling fed up, but would still like to do a bit of school work, my advise would be to focus on Tables (Multiplication/Division - whatever you feel you need to be revising!) and Reading. If there are days where you're feeling more up to it, you could do a bit of the suggested written work, if you want!😀

Table Master is a good online game for practising your Multiplication Tables
Hit The Button can be used to practise your Division Tables (and Multiplication Tables)

Hope everyone has a great week!
Ms Cormican 🌻
